THE CHALLENGE

THE CONTEXT
A solid pine coffee table was developed, sampled, and fully approved by the client's lead designer.
Following production, the first batch passed TRA-CON's final quality inspection and was released for delivery.

THE ISSUE
Upon arrival at the client's warehouse, the lead designer rejected a significant portion of the shipment.

While both parties had previously agreed that natural color variations are inherent to stained solid pine, the variation in this batch exceeded the designer's acceptable tolerance threshold.

The two colour swatches above show the actual colour samples from this project – the rejected lot (No. 1) and the approved replacement (No. 2) have a stain that still shows the wood grain, but is less transparent.
